Prince is a passionate worship leader, a sincere speaker and song-writer with a vision for the current generation. His heart yearns for God’s Presence and intimacy. His burden lies in igniting a fire for the Lord in the hearts of the youth. Since the age of 23, Prince has become active in preaching the Word and leading worship at several churches in Toronto and crusades for Father Berchmans, Paul Dinakaran and Judson Abraham. Prince has served as a worship leader in Living Word Missionary Churchfor over 4 years.
The release of Prince’s first album, Pottruvaen(I Will Praise You), is a reflection of a believer’s desire to praise God and exalt Him for who He is. Prince emphasizes the importance of worship in spirit and in truth – the desire of our Father’s heart. May this spirit-filled collection enrich your time with God and bless your heart.
Growing under the watchful eye of my mother during childhood led me to explore the act of worship. I listened to worship songs by Father Berchmans and Hillsongs and was fascinated by the passion for God resonating from their voices. Somewhere, deep within, a desire to worship God started to grow – however it wasn’t until many years later that desire was fulfilled.
I was born and raised solely by my mother in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. My father spent many years working in the Middle East during all those years. Since I was a small boy, my mother diligently sought to raise me according to the counsel of the Lord. She ensured that I learnt the Scriptures – by the age of 3, I memorized and recited Psalms 23! In 1994, my mother and I were finally reunited with my father in Canada. But the reunion did not lead to lasting happiness. I felt alienated being in a foreign country and since I was apart from my father for so long, I wasn’t able to relate to him. Those problems pushed me to seek a male role model and the things the world offered. My friends were anything but positive role models. I slipped away from God and into the world’s thrill-seeking and pleasure-driven abyss. The path I walked on during my youth nearly destroyed me – including my family. But my loving parents did not give up on me. They prayed and fasted fervently, crying out to God for the return of their ‘prodigal son.’ God’s faithfulness and unconditional love for me resonated through my parents’ prayers and near-death experiences.
By the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, I finally renewed my commitment to the Lord and rededicated myself to full-time ministry. My gift as a vocalist (noted by a choir director when I was a young lad) became a daily offering unto the Lord. Worship thrived in my spirit and I desired to impart the willingness to love and serve God to the younger generation.
My life began to change course when I was given the opportunity to go to India in 2007 to serve God through evangelism under the guidance of dedicated servants. While I was serving there, the Lord confirmed my call to serve Him in full-time ministry. I returned to Canada spiritually refreshed, my mind renewed. Opportunities to lead worship started to pile up – for crusades, special meetings and church events. I participated in the Living Water fundraiser program for 3 years. I also carried the burden to close the gap between the younger and older generations. So, I began to write my own songs and make English-to-Tamil translations. I wanted to see all people, young and old, worship together in spirit and truth. I’m truly grateful for the privileges God has granted me with and right now, I’m relaying what God has shown me to the young people.
